Wiley Rein LLC partner Rick Simpson ’77 has followed the U.S. Supreme Court closely for a long time. He’s written amicus briefs for multiple cases and attended many arguments — and his wife, Lynda, clerked for the late Justice Lewis F. Powell Jr.

In the summer of 2023, two bold Carolina Law students embarked on a groundbreaking internship adventure across the world, to Kigali, Rwanda to work in the nation's Ministry of Justice. Their goal was to learn first-hand about Rwanda's innovative legal system and how it has facilitated reconciliation in the country after the devastating 1994 genocide.

When David Wright transitioned from practicing law to a career in higher education student affairs, he knew he found his true calling. Now, as the new Assistant Dean of Student Services at Carolina Law, Wright brings with him a passion for building meaningful relationships with students and helping them achieve their goals.

Carolina Law recently welcomed double Tar Heel Meghan Moran '19 as the new director of pro bono and public service initiatives. Moran brings extensive experience providing pro bono legal services to domestic violence survivors and underserved communities across North Carolina.

The University of North Carolina School of Law had the highest bar passage rate among all North Carolina law schools for first-time test takers on the July 2023 exam, according to results released by the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners.

The University of North Carolina School of Law welcomed an accomplished group of 179 first-year students who began their legal education this fall as the incoming Class of 2026. Of the 2,815 applicants, these students represent the top 6.4% selected.

Carolina Law organizes the campus-wide Constitution Day celebration to commemorate September 17, the day on which the Constitution of the United States was signed. Constitution Day allows schools and colleges across the country to reflect on United States history, the deeper meanings within the Constitution and hopes it represents for the future.
