End Well: End of Semester Wellness

This year Carolina Law wanted to do something for our students, staff and faculty that was completely unrelated to law school— something that allowed everyone to focus on fun, community and wellness. The first event was called Be Well, held in the fall. It was a big success. On Monday, April 11, Carolina Law held the second event called End Well.

Students Honored with Awards for Writing, Leadership, Academics, Service

At the end of each academic year, UNC School of Law presents awards to students recognizing writing, leadership, service and practice interest. This year, six 3Ls received the Bane Writing Award, The Millard S. Breckenridge Prize in Law, the Coates Rule of Law Essay Award, Winston Crisp Award for Student Leadership and the Clinical Legal Education Association (CLEA) Outstanding Student Award. Eight 3L students were inducted into the James E. and Carolyn B. Davis Society.

Pro Bono Program Announces 2022 Publico Awards, Director Wins Public Service Award

The board of the UNC School of Law Pro Bono Program awarded the 2022 recipients of the Pro Bono Publico Awards at the annual Pro Bono Celebration Thursday, April 7. Graduating students with more than 75 pro bono hours were recognized as was the Class of 2022 for reaching 100 percent participation in pro bono projects. This is the fifth year in a row that the graduating class has reached 100 percent participation. The Class of 2022 completed more than 11,000 hours of pro bono services over the past three years.

Saying the Quiet Parts Out Loud

There are many things that permeate society like hierarchy and structural inequality. Law schools aren’t immune. In Professors Alexa Chew and Rachel Gurvich’s upcoming essay in the Nebraska Law Review Vol. 100, they tackle the ways in which students can feel inequities affecting their legal education even though those inequities aren’t clearly seen to begin with.
