Daugherty &#8217;01 calls an \u201coff-season homecoming.\u201d The February 7 gathering sparked meaningful connections between seasoned practitioners and eager law students.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/magazine.law.unc.edu\/september-2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/09\/HuthPhoto-UNC-CAH_0061-M.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2828\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/magazine.law.unc.edu\/september-2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/09\/HuthPhoto-UNC-CAH_0061-M.jpg 600w, https:\/\/magazine.law.unc.edu\/september-2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/09\/HuthPhoto-UNC-CAH_0061-M-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen we talk to alumni about what brings them back to Carolina Law, continuing legal education opportunities, engaging with faculty and meeting current students consistently top the list,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithlaw.com\/professionals\/Brian-Meacham\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brian Meacham &#8217;03<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/law.unc.edu\/alumni\/unc-law-alumni-association\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Law Alumni Association<\/a> president. \u201cThis festival delivers on all three while giving back to our alumni community.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The alumni program featured insights from beloved faculty and accomplished graduates. Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/law.unc.edu\/people\/donald-thomas-hornstein\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald Hornstein<\/a> opened with a discussion on climate and insurance resilience, followed by Professor Rick Su\u2019s immigration law update. The Supreme Court roundup \u2014 featuring Professors <a href=\"https:\/\/law.unc.edu\/people\/maxine-eichner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maxine Eichner<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/law.unc.edu\/people\/andrew-hessick\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Andy Hessick<\/a>, Mary-Rose Papandrea and North Carolina Solicitor General <a href=\"https:\/\/afj.org\/nominee\/ryan-y-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ryan Park<\/a> \u2014 sparked particular interest among attendees.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alumni speakers <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.arnoldporter.com\/en\/people\/k\/kouba-david\" target=\"_blank\">David Kouba &#8217;02<\/a> of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.arnoldporter.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Arnold &amp; Porter<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.troutman.com\/professionals\/alison-a-grounds.html\" target=\"_blank\">Alison Grounds &#8217;01<\/a> of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.troutman.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Troutman Pepper Locke <\/a>brought current industry perspectives, addressing mental health in legal practice and artificial intelligence\u2019s impact, respectively. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/law.unc.edu\/people\/martin-h-brinkley\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dean Martin H.
