Dear Friends,
Fall 2024 is upon us here in Chapel Hill after a few false starts to the season that kept us unseasonably warm.
There is also renewed energy and a hum of excitement permeating Van Hecke-Wettach’s halls.
In August, Carolina Law welcomed the incoming Class of 2027 bringing together 181 talented individuals, carefully selected from a competitive pool of 2,622 applicants.
The class composition reflects a broad spectrum of backgrounds and experiences, with a near-even split between in-state and out-of-state students.
Academically, the Class of 2027 upholds Carolina Law’s tradition of excellence. With a median GPA of 3.85 and a median LSAT score of 167, these students have demonstrated their readiness for the rigors of legal education. The 75th percentile reaches an impressive 3.92 GPA and 168 LSAT score, while the 25th percentile maintains strong figures with a 3.75 GPA and 164 LSAT score.
Students spanning 27 states, Washington D.C., the United Kingdom, and South Korea are just beginning their legal education journeys. I remember feeling overwhelmed, excited, and suffering from a touch of imposter syndrome. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one.
Many years later, I can’t tell you what grade I made in torts, but I can remember the names of the people in my small section. They became colleagues, best friends, my chosen family, and the people I shared a very special, yet intense three years with.
I’m sure you reflect on your time at Carolina Law through a similar lens. That’s what makes coming back for Law Alumni Weekend such a wonderful way to return, reconnect, and remember.
I hope you’ll join me November 15-17, 2024, in Chapel Hill for a weekend of fun, food, football, and friends!
