This year Carolina Law wanted to do something for our students, staff and faculty that was completely unrelated to law school\u2014 something that allowed everyone to focus on fun, community and wellness. The first event was called Be Well, held in the fall. It was a big success. On Monday, April 11, Carolina Law held the second event called End Well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Events took place all around the school inside and out. There was a surf simulator and photo booth in the Rotunda. A room full of adorable bunnies to hold. The courtroom hosted an improv workshop to help with cold calls during class. Yoga in the conference room. Downloads available for a quick and healthy snack cookbook and motivational playlist. Lots of mental health resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside included popcorn, Sno cones, pizza and cotton candy. Perhaps the greatest draw of the evening was a dunk tank. Associate Deans Andy Hessick and Bianca Mack along with Professor Rachel Gurvich and even Dean Martin H. Brinkley ’92 braved the crowd who were waiting in line for their chance throw the ball and try their luck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rob Birrenkott, assistant dean for career development, created this event as a welcomed respite from the immense pressure of law school for students, staff and faculty. He saw there was a need and made it happen. For taking this initiative, he was awarded the Employee Forum Community Award (also known as the Three Legged Stool Award). The award was designed to recognize distinguished contributions by individuals who work to promote cooperation and collaboration among faculty, staff, and students. It is the Employee Forum’s highest honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
